Recognising the increasing pressure of development in the Hakuba Valley, we made a conscious decision to purchase the surrounding forest land specifically to prevent any future development.

Getting to Hakuba Platinum

Hakuba is located in the Northern Japan Alps in Nagano Prefecture. Whether you prefer the speed of the Shinkansen or the convenience of a direct shuttle, reaching our forest sanctuary is a seamless journey.

1. Direct Airport Shuttles (Most Convenient)

Ideal for families and those with heavy ski gear. The Nagano Snow Shuttle and Alpico Bus offer direct transfers from Tokyo’s Narita and Haneda airports.

  • Drop-off Point: Request Goryu Escal Plaza or Hakuba Goryu.
  • Travel Time: Approx 5–6 hours.
  • Platinum Perk: Contact our concierge once you have your arrival time; we provide a private pickup from the Goryu bus stop to bring you directly to your suite.
2. The Bullet Train / Shinkansen (Fastest)

For the iconic Japanese travel experience.

  1. Tokyo to Nagano: Take the Hokuriku Shinkansen from Tokyo or Ueno Station to Nagano Station (approx. 90 mins).
  2. Nagano to Goryu: Board the Alpico High-Speed Bus (located at Nagano Station East Exit, Bus Stop #26) bound for Hakuba.
  3. Exit at Hakuba Goryu: The bus ride takes roughly 60 minutes.
  4. Platinum Perk: Contact our concierge once you have your arrival time; we provide a private pickup from the Goryu bus stop to bring you directly to your suite.
  5. The "Azusa" Limited Express (Direct Train)

No transfers from central Tokyo. There is one direct JR Azusa Limited Express train daily that runs from Shinjuku Station directly to Hakuba Station.

  • Departure: Usually around 8:00 AM.
  • Travel Time: Approx 3 hours 40 minutes.
  • Platinum Perk: Contact our concierge once you have your arrival time; we provide a private pickup from the Hakuba train station to bring you directly to your suite.
4. Private Transfers

Ultimate luxury and door-to-door service. For groups of up to 10, we can arrange a private chartered van (such as Chuo Taxi or Nagano Luxury Taxi) to meet you at the airport arrivals hall and drive you directly to Hakuba Platinum.

5. Driving & Parking

To make the most of your time in the Hakuba Valley, we highly recommend hiring a car during your stay. While our concierge can assist with shuttles and transfers to nearby destinations, having your own vehicle provides added flexibility and the freedom to explore Hakuba’s many attractions at your leisure - especially during the green season when trails, lakes, and villages are more spread out.

Important Information for Drivers

  • An International Driving Permit is required by Japanese law for all foreign drivers. Please ensure you obtain this before your arrival in Japan.
  • Winter Road Conditions (Dec–Mar). If you are visiting during the winter season, please note: Roads are often snow-covered or icy / Vehicles must be equipped with snow tyres or chains / 4WD vehicles are strongly recommended / Drive cautiously and allow additional travel time / particularly in mountainous areas

Many car rental agencies in the area provide vehicles suited to winter terrain (please check with your provider before reserving).

Should you prefer not to drive, our concierge team is always happy to assist with transport arrangements, including local shuttle schedules and taxi bookings.

If you are renting a car from the airport, follow the Chuo Expressway or Kan-etsu Expressway toward Nagano/Hakuba.

Send your ski gear from the airport directly to Hakuba Platinum for a small fee, and it will be waiting in your suite when you arrive.

Our concierge will assist you to get your gear to your next destination at the end of your stay.

The Art of Sorting

Japan is world-renowned for its meticulous waste management, and Hakuba is no exception. To protect our crystal-clear rivers and lush forests, we follow the Kita Alps Wide Area Union guidelines.

We kindly ask our guests to join us in this "Culture of Care" by sorting waste into the provided categories:

  • Burnables: Food waste, paper, and certain clothing.
  • Recyclables: PET bottles, alluminum cans, and glass (please rinse before disposal).
  • Plastics: Clean plastic packaging and containers.
  • Non-Burnables: Ceramics, glass scraps, and small metal items.

A Note for Our Guests: Your suite is equipped with a streamlined sorting station to make this process seamless. By taking a few moments to separate your recyclables, you are directly contributing to the preservation of the Japow and Green Seasons we all love.
